Edges and Wax

This is most of what comes through the door. Anything with a hole in it belongs on the repairs page.

Edges

Edges and Hot Wax

The side edge goes to 88° and the base edge to 1° unless you ask for something else. We file, then stone, then take the burr off by hand, so the edge bites on ice without catching in soft snow. The hot wax goes on afterwards, because a file leaves the base dry.

  • Ready in two working days in season, usually one off season
  • Other angles on request, up to 87° on the side for racers
  • Snowboards the same price
€38
Wax

Hot Wax

Ironed in, left to cool for an hour, scraped and brushed. We choose the hardness from the snow temperature for the week you are skiing, which is why we ask.

  • In by 10:00 Monday to Friday, ready from 16:30 the same day
  • Season card: six hot waxes for €110
  • Glide wax only, never fluorinated
€22
Full service

The Full Service

The base is ground flat on the stone and given a fresh structure, then the edges go back to set angles and the hot wax goes on. This is what to ask for once a season, or after a week on a rental-shop wax.

  • Two working days in season
  • Includes drip fill for one small gouge
  • Snowboards take a little longer on the stone, hence the €5
€59 skis, €64 board
Race prep

Race Prep

A fine stone structure, edges to your own angles and three layers of hot wax, each one cooled and brushed before the next. It takes four working days and must be arranged ahead.

  • Tell us the event date when you drop off
  • €30 paid at drop-off, taken off the final bill
  • Junior club racers welcome, same price
€95

Wax by snow temperature

Which Wax, and Why

Five bands from deep cold to spring slush. The green shows where each one sits on a bar from minus 20 to plus 5, with ticks at minus 10 and zero.

Six Hot Waxes for €110

It is a piece of stiff paper we punch each time. It does not expire, and it works for skis and boards alike, so a family can share one.

On the base

What We Will and Will Not Put On

No fluorinated wax. We stopped using it and we are not starting again. For cross-country skis we do glide wax only, so no grip wax and no klister.

Everything else we say no to is listed on the workshop page.
